高義楠／I have the good fortune...
I have the good fortune of being able to see 沈伯母 every summer in the last ten years or so and I have learned so much from her stories and her example as a scholar/teacher, mother and grandma. I am in awe of her dedication as a scholar/teacher over the years, her deep concern for the future of democracy, her generosity, her extraordinary memory... But to me she is always the kind, cheerful, encouraging, supportive 沈伯母, with her namesake demeanor that makes us feel at ease and welcome. I still cannot believe that I won't be able to chat with her and ask questions again (the book that she published last year, the cook book that, by definition, cannot be published, the Oral History project, ....). I will always cherish the memory of the good time we had with 沈伯母.
